Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled Kyeame Kofi Nti during the first sitting of the Asanteman Council following his return from a recent vacation, marking a significant development within the Asante traditional leadership.

The decision, according Akosa Reports and sources within the council, follows a series of serious allegations and concerns presented against the former linguist.

Central to the case was Kyeame Kofi Nti’s alleged failure to promptly report “Otumfuo ntam,” a sacred duty within Asante custom.
In the traditional system, any delay or withholding of such invocations is regarded as a grave breach of responsibility.

Additional concerns were raised about his handling of these matters, with accusations that he delayed and kept important communications instead of reporting them as required.
Given the sensitivity of his role, these actions reportedly generated significant concern among council members.

He was also accused of exhibiting disrespectful and unfair behavior toward elders, an act considered contrary to the core values of respect and hierarchy in Akan chieftaincy.
Questions regarding his royal lineage further complicated the matter. Allegations suggested that he may not be of legitimate royal descent, despite occupying a stool that traditionally requires such heritage.
Other issues, including his alleged involvement in matters relating to the enstoolment of the Ayaase Dikro, were also cited during deliberations.
Kyeame Kofi Nti served for seven years as the occupant of the Boakye Yam Panin linguist stool, a key position that acts as a vital link between the Asantehene and divisions such as Asokwa and Akyerema.
The role demands strict adherence to tradition, loyalty, and discipline.
After considering all concerns presented, the Asanteman Council reached a unanimous decision to remove him from office.
The destoolment underscores the Asantehene’s commitment to accountability and the strict enforcement of traditional values within Asanteman.
