The Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has claimed that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is rapidly losing public support due to what he described as poor policy decisions.
According to the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Member of Parliament, some government policies, including the reduction in cocoa prices, have generated public dissatisfaction and negatively affected the image of the administration.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a workshop organised for Minority Members of Parliament, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh charged MPs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain committed to representing the concerns and aspirations of Ghanaians.
“This government has become unpopular even faster than we anticipated, and it did not take long for their shallowness to be exposed at every level,” he stated.
He urged the Minority Caucus to intensify efforts in holding the government accountable whenever shortcomings are identified.
“We will therefore be doing our service if we intensify the pressure of accountability and strike whenever they are exposed. Millions of Ghanaians deserve to know the true nature of their government,” he said.
Annoh-Dompreh further claimed that many groups in society, including public sector workers and market women, were struggling under the current administration.
“Public servants are crying. Market women are crying. This is a reflection of the state of the NDC government,” he added.
He also expressed appreciation to his parliamentary colleagues and party leadership for their continued commitment to the work of the Minority Caucus.
