A 45-year-old man identified as Dodzi has been arrested after allegedly killing his wife, Lydia, and decapitating her at Asikumah-Enyikpodzi.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of today, leaving residents of the community shocked.
According to residents, the suspect allegedly attacked his wife at their residence before killing her and decapitating her.
Community members also claim the suspect has a history of mental health challenges and had previously received treatment. However, police have yet to establish whether his alleged mental health history played any role in the incident.
Police launch investigation
Police officers from the local command arrested the suspect shortly after the incident.
The deceased’s body was conveyed to the Akosombo Government Hospital, where it was deposited for preservation and autopsy as part of investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine what led to the alleged killing and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
