The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 72-year-old man in connection with the murder of two persons at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, was arrested on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at his hideout at Tikrom, near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

His arrest follows an earlier statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Command on October 30, 2026, concerning the murder of Irene Atuguba, 47, and George Atuguba, 57.
According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the killings may have stemmed from a financial dispute between the deceased George Atuguba and the suspect.
The suspect allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the deceased but failed to repay the money, a development believed to have led to the dispute.
The police said the arrest was carried out by a team of officers who acted on intelligence about the suspect’s whereabouts and proceeded to his hideout, where he was successfully apprehended.
During the operation, officers retrieved a Smith & Wesson pistol and seven rounds of live ammunition from the suspect.
The firearm and ammunition have since been retained by the police as exhibits to assist investigations.
Mr Osei Anto is currently in police custody and assisting investigators with inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two victims.
The arrest forms part of ongoing police investigations into the double murder, as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and bring the case to its logical conclusion.
The statement was signed by Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
