Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng releases 20 Patients at KATH, 10 inmates at Kumasi Central Prisons, donates 100k to KATH

The leader and founder of Power Chapel Worldwide, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, has donated one hundred thousand cedis to the Heal Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) project fund.

This donation is part of his support to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital renovation project, known as ‘Heal Komfo Anokye project’ valued at 10 million US dollars.

In celebration of his birthday, Rev. Kusi Boateng also covered the medical bills of 20 patients at the hospital’s Mother and Baby Unit.

These patients, all of whom are mothers who had safely delivered their babies, were discharged but unable to leave the facility due to a lack of funds to settle their medical bills. The total cost of this donation is expected to be between thirty to fifty thousand Ghana cedis.

Speaking at the event, Rev. Mrs. Lady Anita Kusi Boateng, wife of the birthday celebrant, said, “This is not the first time we are making donations on behalf of my husband at Komfo Anokye and the Kumasi Central Prisons. We have been supporting the inmates with food, money, and other items. Today, for his birthday, he wanted to release people from both the prison and the hospital. That’s why we are here to pay these bills and fines, so they can reunite with their families as soon as possible. This is his birthday package for those who cannot celebrate with us at home.”

At Kumasi Central Prisons, Rev. Kusi Boateng further donated twenty thousand cedis to cover the release of ten inmates who had been jailed for minor offenses due to their inability to pay court fines.

Speaking to the media after the donation Rev. Lord Mophat said, “We are here to release some of our brothers in prison. Our father, the general overseer of Power Chapel, is celebrating his birthday today, 7th September 2024, and we thought it right to visit our brothers who are incarcerated for small fines. We will try to pay them so that the government can release them to rejoin their families. On behalf of Power Chapel and our father, we would like to thank the prison service for giving us this opportunity, and we promise to continue supporting the government’s decongestion efforts whenever we have the means.”

Public Relations Officer for Kumasi Central Prisons, DSP Richard Kukari, expressed his appreciation for the gesture. He commended Rev. Kusi Boateng for his contribution to the government’s efforts to decongest the prisons.

“The situation here is very challenging. This facility, built to accommodate 550 inmates, currently houses 1,670, which is over 100% capacity. The effects of overcrowding are serious, including communicable diseases, skin rashes due to heat, inadequate feeding, and poor sleeping conditions, all of which contribute to ill health. This gesture from Rev. Kusi Boateng is beyond imagination, and we only pray that God replenishes him, so he can return for similar charity projects.”

He added, “The doors of Kumasi Central Prisons are always open to those willing to help release more inmates. Those who are can support the feeding of the imates will equally be welcome”
