Independent Presidential Candidate and leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has officially named Dr. Maryam Issaka Kriese as his running mate for the December 7, 2024, presidential election.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, as part of his campaign tour.
During the event, Nana Bediako praised Dr. Maryam’s qualifications, describing her as the ideal partner to help lead Ghana towards a prosperous future.
He highlighted her impressive credentials as a distinguished academic, noting that she has lectured at both the University of Ghana Business School and the University of Professional Studies, Accra. Dr. Maryam holds a PhD in Finance, an MBA, and advanced certifications in Islamic Finance and ERP software, making her a strong addition to the New Force ticket.
In his speech, Bediako expressed his gratitude for the support the movement has received and assured Ghanaians that he and Dr. Maryam are committed to working tirelessly for the country’s development. “The people of this country are dear to my heart,” Bediako stated. “Together, with Dr. Maryam Issaka Kriese, we will embark on the next phase of the New Force’s mission to transform Ghana’s governance and development.”
Dr. Maryam, a Muslim and a well-known advocate for women’s rights, echoed this commitment in her acceptance speech, stating that the nomination is an opportunity to serve all Ghanaians.
She emphasized that the New Force’s vision is rooted in hope, leadership, and delivering tangible results rather than empty promises.
“This nomination is more than just an honor,” Dr. Maryam remarked. “It is a responsibility I accept on behalf of all Ghanaians who are yearning for real change, for a future built on hope, and for leadership that works for all.” She pledged to work alongside Bediako to bring the much-needed transformation and restore faith in Ghana’s governance.
The New Force ticket is expected to offer a fresh alternative to Ghana’s dominant political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the 2024 election season approaches. With rising frustration among the electorate over the current state of politics, the movement has gained significant momentum in recent months, positioning itself as a credible alternative for voters seeking change.
As the campaign heats up, all eyes will be on the Bediako-Maryam ticket, with the duo expected to crisscross the country, rallying support and spreading their message of hope and development. Their candidacy promises to bring a new dimension to the upcoming elections as they strive to offer solutions to Ghana’s economic challenges and governance issues.
The press conference concluded with a strong message of optimism from Nana Bediako, who assured Ghanaians that, with their support, the New Force will deliver the leadership the country desperately needs.
