MTN Ghana has launched WebGuard, a network-level cybersecurity service designed to protect its Home Broadband customers from phishing attacks, malware, scam websites and other online threats.
The service, announced in Accra on August 4, 2026, provides automatic protection across all devices connected to an MTN Home Broadband network without requiring users to download or install software.
According to MTN Ghana, WebGuard is powered by Whalebone Aura technology and operates at the network level, enabling it to block malicious websites, fraudulent links and other cyber threats before they reach users’ devices.
The telecommunications company said the service comes at a time when internet users are increasingly exposed to phishing scams, fake websites and malicious links circulated through messaging platforms and other online channels.
Speaking at the launch, MTN Ghana’s Chief Digital Officer, Ibrahim Misto, said WebGuard forms part of the company’s efforts to improve online safety for customers by providing an additional layer of protection for families using its Home Broadband service.

He said the network-based approach allows customers to benefit from online protection without any technical configuration or software installation.
As part of the rollout, MTN Ghana is offering Home Broadband customers complimentary access to WebGuard for a limited introductory period. The company said the offer is intended to familiarise customers with the service before subsequent phases of its implementation.
