Vincent Amo Amponsah, a nursing student popularly known as “Ava Cadron,” was found dead in the hall of his Kwadaso home after reportedly having been deceased for several days, family members and local sources say.
Sources who spoke with Kumasimail report that Amponsah had been dead for three days before his body was discovered.
The deceased’s remains were released to the family on Saturday, July 18th as investigations into the circumstances of his death continue. The body is currently at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary.
Unclear cause, no suspect identified
Police have not yet named any suspect in connection with the incident. Initial reports state that a sponge was tied around the victim’s neck and his tongue was protruding when the body was found.
Family members say there was no visible structure in the room such as a hook or beam on which the deceased could have hanged himself, and they therefore suspect foul play.
Witnesses also reported bloodstains on the walls of the hall where the death occurred, a detail that has heightened family concerns and prompted calls for a thorough forensic examination.
Authorities on scene have not released an official cause of death. Investigations are ongoing, and the police are expected to complete forensic and medical examinations before making further statements.
Two of the victim’s phones were found at the scene; both were switched off at the time and are currently with the police.
Sources say the victim did not sell phones, making earlier reports to that effect untrue. “Vincent did not sell phones. It was his brother, who is outside the country, who brought him two phones to sell, but they were sold long ago,” a family member told Kumasimail.
These conflicting details complicate the investigation and make it harder to understand what could have led someone to take his life.
Family members and neighbours have urged swift action from investigators to determine the exact circumstances of Amponsah’s death and to bring any responsible parties to justice.
