President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate reversal of all allocations and sales of land belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that were authorized by the previous government.
The directive, issued on Tuesday 3rd March 2025 aims to protect state assets and prevent the privatization of strategic government properties.
One of the affected properties is a parcel of land adjoining the Ministry at Airport Residential, which had been claimed by seven organizations and individuals.
According to the directive, these transactions will now be canceled, and the land will be preserved for the people of Ghana.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, expressed his appreciation for President Mahama’s decisive action, describing it as a patriotic intervention to safeguard state property.
“I am enormously grateful to President Mahama for his unwavering patriotic and decisive presidential backing,” Ablakwa stated in a Facebook post.
He further assured Ghanaians that under his leadership as Foreign Minister, no land or property belonging to the Ministry—whether in Ghana or abroad—would be sold.
In a strong declaration against what he described as “state capture,” Ablakwa vowed to protect national assets from privatization.
“No more State Capture! For God and Country. Ghana First,” he affirmed.
The directive signals the government’s commitment to reclaiming and protecting public lands, particularly those earmarked for state use.
