The Combine Traders Association has joined Ghanaians and well-wishers worldwide in expressing profound sorrow over the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

This message of condolence was formally conveyed in a statement issued by the association’s General Secretary, Reuben Amey.

In the statement, Mr. Amey extended heartfelt sympathies to His Royal Majesty the Asantehene, the royal family (Nananom), and the entire Asanteman for the monumental loss of their revered mother figure.

The Combine Traders Association acknowledged the immense legacy left by Nana Konadu Yiadom III, emphasizing her significant contributions to the unity, growth, and overall development of the Asante Kingdom.

“The Combine Traders Association expresses very deep condolences to His Royal Majesty Asantehene, Nananom, and the entire Asanteman on the call to glory journey of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III,” the statement read.

Highlighting her pivotal role, the association observed that Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s guidance was a cornerstone in fostering progress within the kingdom, and her loss leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of many, especially traders who feel her absence deeply.

The association emphasized, “We are not oblivious of the immense and huge contribution to the development and progress of Asanteman and the invaluable role she played in nurturing, growing unity and development within the Asante Kingdom at large.

“Every trader share in the sorrow highlighting the huge vacancy her departure has left in our.”

The Combine Traders Association pledged to honor her memory by upholding the values she championed, particularly by working tirelessly to support the flourishing of traders in the Asante Kingdom and its environs.

During this period of grief, the association reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the rich traditions and customs that define the great Asante Kingdom.

“We pledge our commitment to continue holding the traditions and customs of the great Asante Kingdom,” the statement added.

The statement concluded with the traditional farewell, “Nanahemaa Dui! Nanahemaa Da Yie!” as a mark of respect and enduring tribute to the late queen mother.

Background:

The death of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III was officially announced by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The announcement was made in accordance with tradition at an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, held on August 11, 2025, following her passing on August 7, 2025.

Manhyia Palace issued a statement revealing the rites will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Bogyawe, Manhyia palace.

The ceremony is expected to draw chiefs, queen mothers, royals, government officials, and mourners from the Ashanti Region and beyond.

Additionally, the Manhyia Palace has announced a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on that day, in honor of the Asantehemaa’s memory and to allow all to participate fully in the observance, which will be conducted in accordance with Asante customs and traditions.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the 14th Asantehemaa, or Queen Mother, of the Ashanti Kingdom, a central figure in Ghana’s traditional leadership. Born in 1927 at Benyaade Shrine in Merdan near Kumasi, her birth came at a time of significant restoration for the Ashanti Confederacy. She was the daughter of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, the previous Asantehemaa who served from 1977 until 2016.

Although she did not receive formal education, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was deeply trained in the customs and traditions of Ashanti royalty, preparing her for a lifetime of leadership and service.

Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III’s passing marks the end of an era for the Ashanti Kingdom, where her legacy of maternal leadership, cultural preservation, and social advocacy had immense impact on the people of Asante and beyond. Her life and reign exemplify the enduring power and influence of the Queen Mother in Ashanti society.
