The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has cautioned the public, particularly young people, to be wary of individuals and networks linked to the controversial scheme QNET and similar operations that promise overseas opportunities.
In a public advisory, the ministry said it has observed an increase in cases where Ghanaian nationals are being lured to travel abroad under false pretenses, including promises of lucrative jobs, business opportunities, and assistance in securing European visas.
According to the ministry, many of these schemes have left victims stranded in foreign countries, detained by immigration authorities, or exposed to exploitative and distressing living conditions.
The ministry therefore urged the public to exercise extreme caution when dealing with travel, recruitment, or business offers that require financial commitments.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to verify all travel, recruitment, and business opportunities through official and appropriate channels before making any payments or traveling outside the country,” the statement said.
Parents, guardians, and community leaders have also been encouraged to educate young people about the risks associated with such schemes, which often target vulnerable individuals seeking opportunities abroad.
The ministry further called on the public to promptly report suspicious activities to its consular department via email at [email protected] or by phone at +233204552750, as well as to relevant security and immigration authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration reaffirmed its commitment to working with national institutions to protect the welfare of Ghanaian citizens and curb the activities of criminal networks that exploit unsuspecting individuals.
