Lawyer Sylvester Isang, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nandom, has highlighted his record in community development, party loyalty and support for education as key pillars of his bid to contest the Nandom parliamentary seat.
Mr Isang, who has declared his intention to contest the seat when nominations open in 2027, says his ability to unite party members, his experience in public service and his proposed interventions for constituents distinguish his campaign.
In a document compiled by his campaign team, the legal practitioner is presented as a candidate capable of working across internal party divisions and appealing to voters beyond the NPP, including members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), traditional authorities, religious leaders and floating voters.
According to the campaign team, Mr Isang has no established faction within the party and is willing to work with past and present constituency executives to strengthen the NPP in Nandom.
The team argues that internal unity will be crucial to the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.
Cites assembly record and education interventions
Mr Isang’s campaign team is also drawing attention to his record as Assembly Member for the Biiregang Electoral Area, where it says he introduced free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal for residents.
The team further credits him with establishing a student awards scheme at Nandom Senior High School in 2019, including recognition for the best-performing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates from St Andrews and Dondometeng Junior High Schools between 2019 and 2022.
It says the initiative has since included a GH¢5,000 award for the best-performing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) student at Nandom SHS.
Other interventions attributed to him include the “Operation Floor One Room” initiative for vulnerable residents, food assistance and scholarships for students pursuing medicine, law and engineering at the tertiary level.
His campaign team says these initiatives demonstrate the potential to extend similar interventions to other parts of the constituency if he secures the NPP’s parliamentary candidacy.
Highlights party loyalty and financial support
The legal practitioner is also seeking to establish his credentials as a longstanding supporter of the NPP, with his campaign team claiming that he has openly campaigned for the party and its parliamentary candidates since 2012 using his personal resources.
The team cites his support for transporting party members from Tamale to Nandom to participate in the 2020 general elections, as well as donations reportedly ranging from GH¢5,000 to GH¢10,000 to the constituency party during previous election periods.
Mr Isang also served as a legal officer and patron of the Nandom NPP until after the 2026 constituency executive elections, according to the campaign document.
His supporters argue that his involvement in the party predates his parliamentary ambition and should be considered as delegates prepare to select a candidate for the next general election.
Announces support for delegates and women
Beyond his record in community service and party activities, Mr Isang has outlined a number of proposed interventions targeting party delegates, constituency executives and women traders.
According to his campaign team, he has offered educational support for the children of six delegates pursuing medicine and law. The team says the beneficiaries include one medical student and five law students, in addition to students supported through his educational foundation.
He has also announced plans to provide financial assistance to women executives to support their trading activities, alongside a proposed revolving, interest-free loan scheme of between GH¢10,000 and GH¢20,000 for each of the constituency’s four zones.
The campaign team says the proposal is informed by his experience growing up with a mother who engaged in petty trading.
On logistics, Mr Isang has pledged to provide 100 plastic chairs and canopies, beginning with the four zones and extending the support to electoral areas. He has also proposed providing motor kings for each zone to transport the equipment for party activities and other programmes.
The campaign team says some plastic chairs have already been procured through a donation from his sister.

It adds that Mr Isang intends to give individual attention to the welfare concerns of delegates, although the document does not provide details of a formal implementation framework or funding arrangements for all the proposed interventions.
Eyes 2028 Nandom parliamentary contest
The Nandom parliamentary contest is expected to feature discussions about party unity, candidate selection, development priorities and the capacity of aspirants to mobilise support ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr Isang’s campaign team is positioning his legal career, experience as an assembly member, education initiatives and longstanding involvement in the NPP as central to his appeal.
His proposed interventions for delegates and constituency executives also feature prominently in his early campaign messaging.
The NPP is expected to select its parliamentary candidate through its internal nomination and election processes ahead of the next general election.
For Mr Isang, the immediate task is to convince party delegates that his record, proposals and approach to party organisation align with their expectations for the constituency.
His campaign team maintains that his aspiration is rooted in a broader vision of development and opportunity for Nandom, with particular attention to education, vulnerable households, women and young people.
