Lawyer Sylvester Isang, an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Nandom, has suspended all campaign activities following a directive from the party’s national headquarters ordering prospective aspirants to stop campaigning.
Mr Isang said the suspension also affects his planned distribution of plastic chairs across the constituency’s four zones and financial support for female delegates, both scheduled for October.
In a statement responding to the directive issued by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on October 11, 2026, the Master of Chambers at Isang@Law said his team would resume activities when nominations formally open.
“In light of this Directive from the General Secretary of our Party (NPP), my Team shall suspend all campaign activities, including the intended distribution of plastic chairs across the four zones and the soft financial support to all female delegates that were scheduled for this October,” he said.
He added: “We shall bounce back stronger than before as soon as Nomination Forms are formally opened.”
The NPP national office, in its directive, said it had received complaints that some members with parliamentary ambitions had begun campaigning in various constituencies, contrary to party regulations and its code of conduct.
The party has ordered all prospective aspirants, their agents and supporters to immediately cease activities including rallies, polling station executives’ meetings, campaign tours, distribution of items or inducements to delegates, and paid media or social media advertisements promoting candidates.

It also warned party officers at polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, including the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), against promoting prospective aspirants on social media or enabling premature campaigns.
The directive cautioned that non-compliance could attract disciplinary action and affect an aspirant’s eligibility to contest.
Mr Isang, who has already declared his intention to contest the Nandom seat when nominations open in 2027, thanked supporters within and outside the constituency for backing his bid.
He singled out traditional rulers, opinion leaders, party delegates and well-wishers for their support, expressing gratitude with the Dagara phrase “Ni barika”, meaning thank you.
The NPP says it will announce the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary selection process in due course, while constituency and regional executives have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
