Minister Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has assured Ghanaians that the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results will be released before the 29TH December, 2024.
This follows concerns raised by the Conference of Heads of Private Second-Cycle Schools (CHOPSS) Over the delays in releasing the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates due to a GH₵118 million debt owed to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) by the Ministry of education.
Addressing journalists during a working visit to the West African Examination council, Education Minister disclosed that about 50 percent of the results have been worked on.
Speaking at an impromptu press briefing, the Minister explained that the current challenges, though not uncommon, are being addressed systematically to prevent further disruptions to educational programs and processes.
Examination Results Delay
Dr. Adutwum noted that results initially expected by the 28th or 29th of December may face slight delays.
He attributed this to unforeseen challenges within the system, but assured that efforts were underway to expedite their release. “We want to avoid confusion or speculation, and it’s important to communicate this clearly to the public.
The results may come slightly later than anticipated, but they are on their way,” he explained.
Funding Constraints
The Minister also highlighted financial constraints impacting educational initiatives, noting that approximately 100 million Ghana cedis are yet to be disbursed to support ongoing projects.
“We are managing the delay in funding, but we must acknowledge the strain it has caused. Securing these funds is a priority,” Dr. Adutwum stated.
Despite the challenges, the Minister emphasized his commitment to development in the education sector, expressing optimism about resolving the issues swiftly.
He urged stakeholders to exercise patience as the Ministry works toward ensuring smooth operations.
“I pride myself on development, and this period is no different. We may face setbacks, but we remain focused on delivering results and addressing these hurdles,” he said.
Dr. Adutwum appeal to the public for understanding and support, reiterating his dedication to fostering progress in education.
“The delays we are experiencing are not unusual, but we will overcome them. Let us remain committed to the collective goal of advancing education for all,” he remarked.
The Minister’s comments come amidst heightened public interest in the release of examination results and funding for educational programs.
