Dr. Frank Amoakohene, a nominee for a ministerial position, outlined his vision for effective governance and national development during his appearance before Parliament’s Vetting Committee.
His statements addressed issues ranging from population challenges and resource utilization to social cohesion and governance reforms.
Dr. Amoakohene acknowledged the country’s growing population and emphasized the importance of addressing class disparities to promote unity and equitable development.
“Population growth in this country is evident, and it is imperative that we address class divisions and create frameworks that ensure consistency and inclusivity in policymaking,” he stated.
He underscored the need for consistency in governance, adding that reforms should take into consideration both short-term and long-term needs of the population. “It’s about replacing chaos with calculated, strategic measures,” he said, emphasizing that his approach would prioritize practical solutions over rhetoric.
Dr. Amoakohene highlighted the untapped potential of Ghana’s youth and natural resources, urging policymakers to focus on opportunities that drive societal progress. “We have a vibrant youth population and emerging opportunities, but these remain underutilized. It is time to align our resources and energies to ensure that every citizen contributes to national development,” he said.
He also touched on international collaboration, stating that partnerships with nations like Germany and others could provide Ghana with the leverage needed to access advanced technology and infrastructure for development. “We must embrace opportunities to learn and collaborate globally to bring transformative change to our local communities,” Dr. Amoakohene noted.
During the vetting session, Dr. Amoakohene expressed concern about social inequalities and called for targeted interventions to bridge gaps. He emphasized the importance of inclusive policies that prioritize marginalized groups, including women and Muslims, to foster national unity and cohesion.
He also proposed reforms to improve the efficiency of government programs and public service delivery. “We need to focus on the nitty-gritty—streamlining administrative processes, promoting transparency, and ensuring resources reach their intended beneficiaries,” he remarked.
Dr. Amoakohene concluded by highlighting the need for a resilient governance structure capable of addressing present challenges while preparing for future ones. He assured the committee of his commitment to implementing reforms and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure progress.
“My focus will be on building systems that benefit the average citizen, ensuring that every Ghanaian has the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from our national development efforts,” he pledged.
Dr. Amoakohene’s vetting performance has drawn praise for its depth and strategic outlook, with many political analysts describing his submissions as a roadmap for inclusive governance and sustainable development.
