Amidst swirling allegations of electoral manipulation, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a strong statement reaffirming the party’s commitment to a free, fair, and transparent electoral process in the December 7, 2024 polls.
NAPO, as affectionately called views elections as a process, not an event, and NPP is committed to every step of the process, from voter registration to the casting of ballots.
“For us in the NPP, we have always viewed elections as a process and not an event and thus, remain committed to every step towards a free, fair and transparent elections in December.
“I visited mop-up registration centres on UPSA, University of Ghana and GIMPA Campuses in the Madina and Ayawaso West Wuogon constituencies.” he wrote on his Facebook wall.
Adding: “It was encouraging to see young men and women defy the rains to get their names onto the electoral register to be able exercise their franchise in December.”.
NDC’s Deputy Secretary Mustapha Gbande accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of pursuing personal interests and acting irresponsibly in an effort to rig the upcoming December 7 general elections.
The Vice Presidential candidate’s statement comes as the country prepares for the crucial December polls, with the NPP seeking to maintain its position in government.
Dr. Prempeh’s reassurance aims to boost public confidence in the electoral process and demonstrate the NPP’s commitment to democratic principles.
