The newly sworn-in Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Christian Agyare, has expressed profound gratitude to the Asantehene and Chancellor of the university, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his support throughout the process that culminated in his appointment as the institution’s 13th Vice Chancellor.
Prof. Agyare made the remarks during his investiture ceremony in Kumasi, which was attended by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Chief of Staff at the Presidency Dr. Julius Debrah, members of academia, traditional leaders, religious figures and political actors.
He said his elevation to the office was made possible by the collective support of many people and institutions, stressing that no one succeeds alone.
Citing the Ubuntu philosophy, which means “I am because we are,” Prof. Agyare said individual achievement is always built on community support, sacrifice and shared purpose.
“I am therefore deeply mindful that I do not stand here alone,” he said, adding that he stood “on the shoulders of giants” and remained grateful for the wisdom, guidance and generosity of those who supported his journey.
He specifically thanked Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Chairman of the University Council and his predecessor, Prof. Mrs. Rita Abosie Adedze, for their “unwavering support” and “careful guidance” during KNUST’s transition process.
He also expressed gratitude to his nuclear family and extended family for their unwavering support and commitment.
