Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Savannah Regional Secretary Mohammed Issah has denied allegations that he stripped the party’s regional secretariat of computers, television sets, furniture and air conditioners after the party’s recent regional elections.

Issah described the allegations as “deliberate misinformation” and “malicious attacks” intended to tarnish his reputation, while announcing his readiness to hand over the regional secretariat and its contents to the newly elected regional leadership.

His response follows the circulation of claims on social media that items had gone missing from the secretariat and that he personally removed virtually everything from the office.

Issah said he visited the secretariat a few days after the August 15 regional elections and found the premises barricaded with rubber ropes. He said he returned the following day, removed the barricades and left without entering into any confrontation.

He said he subsequently learnt that the newly elected Regional Chairman and Alhaji Morino had made enquiries through his driver, the secretariat’s watchman and administrator about items they believed were missing.

Issah said he later contacted the Chairman of the Regional Council of Elders, Alhaji Yakubu Zakaria, and provided an account of the circumstances surrounding the secretariat and its contents.

He has challenged anyone with evidence that party funds were used to restructure or furnish the facility to make such evidence public.

According to Issah, the secretariat in its present form was developed and furnished substantially from his personal salary and earnings, insisting that neither the regional nor national party contributed funds towards the work.

He nevertheless said he had no intention of withholding the facility from the NPP.

“I intend to hand it over to the Regional Party,” he stated, adding that he had already contacted the current Regional Secretary, Ayuba Seidu, to facilitate an “orderly, transparent and smooth transition” of the secretariat and its contents.

But Issah’s statement also exposes a broader concern over the state of relations within the NPP Savannah Region following the fiercely contested regional elections.

He called on the new leadership to focus on healing divisions and rebuilding trust rather than attacking candidates and supporters who lost the election.

“The elections are over,” he said, urging the party to make a “deliberate and genuine effort to heal wounds, rebuild trust and unite ourselves into a formidable opposition.”

He criticised what he described as the use of anonymous or paid social media surrogates to malign party members, warning that such tactics would only deepen divisions.

The warning comes as the newly elected regional executives begin reorganising the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The new leadership has already identified victory in 2028 as its principal objective, but disagreements surrounding the transition—including a separate dispute over the appointment of a Deputy Regional Women’s Organiser—have raised questions about the cohesion of the new administration.

Issah said his defeat in the internal election had not diminished his commitment to the NPP and pledged to support the new regional executives.

“Losing an internal election will neither erase that history nor diminish my commitment to the New Patriotic Party,” he said.

The immediate issue over the regional secretariat now appears headed towards an orderly handover, but Issah’s intervention highlights the larger challenge confronting the new NPP leadership: whether it can overcome the divisions generated by the internal contest and build a sufficiently united regional organisation ahead of the 2028 elections.
