Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Atta Issah, has stepped up constituency development interventions with a series of projects and social programmes targeting education, healthcare, youth employment, sports and basic infrastructure.

The latest intervention is the distribution of 1,500 mono desks to 28 schools across the constituency, aimed at easing furniture shortages and improving learning conditions.

The desks have gone to schools including Holy Trinity Primary at Tampe Kukuo, Malshegu R/C JHS, Changnaayili Primary, Garizegu R/C Primary, Jisonayili Islamic Primary A and B, Kogni M/A Primary and JHS, Damakunyili R/C JHS, Dungu Anglican JHS, Bagabaga Demonstration JHS A, Hilalliya JHS and Rayaaniya Islamic Primary School.

Tamale Senior High School received 150 desks, while Dogushegu and Tampei Kukuo schools received 50 desks each.

The intervention comes on the back of a broader education infrastructure drive by the MP.

Four additional classroom projects have been approved and construction has begun at Katariga, Kasalgu, Nyeshee and Bukpomo. The projects comprise two six-unit classroom blocks, a three-unit classroom block and a three-unit JHS block respectively.

Earlier in July, Mr Issah handed over a completed three-unit classroom block, office and kitchen to Kunyevula T.I. Ahmaddiya Primary School.

In May 2025, he commissioned a three-unit JHS block at Wayamba, providing the community with its first JHS facility and ending the need for pupils to travel long distances for junior high education.

The MP has also established an education scholarship scheme targeting tertiary students. The programme was launched with a GH¢800,000 commitment over four years, with 150 students identified as beneficiaries.

In healthcare, several projects initiated under Mr Issah’s tenure are at different stages of implementation.

They include CHPS compounds at Dimala, Ngarun, Sognaayili, Kumbuyili and Yilonaayili, as well as a new maternity ward. The MP has been personally monitoring some of the projects, including visits to Dugushegu, Ngarun and Dimala to assess progress.

The Sognaayili CHPS compound formed part of a GH¢3.3 million package of development projects for which the MP cut sod in December 2025. The package also included a two-unit kindergarten block with an office and store at Kpalsi AME Zion KG School.

The constituency’s infrastructure programme also extends to roads and water. An 18-kilometre road construction project covering parts of Sagnarigu, including the road linking the Municipal Assembly to Kpane and Kasalgu, was announced in 2025.

The MP’s project records also show interventions involving a mechanised borehole, dam construction and public toilet facility at Sugashei, alongside an ongoing maternity ward project.

Beyond physical infrastructure, Mr Issah has placed considerable emphasis on economic empowerment.

In August, his artisans’ support programme reached another 475 beneficiaries, taking the reported number of artisans who have received working tools to about 1,000.

The MP says the programme is intended to reach 2,000 artisans before the end of his tenure, providing craftsmen and women with equipment to expand their businesses and livelihoods.

Sports infrastructure has also entered the constituency development agenda.

In July, Mr Issah joined community leaders at Saya to cut the sod for an ultramodern astroturf pitch, comprising an artificial playing surface, a 100-seat spectator stand and other supporting facilities. The contract is expected to take four months.

Plans are also in place for another astroturf facility in a community along the Kumbungu Road.

The growing list of interventions has already attracted recognition for the young legislator. In April 2026, the World Diplomatic Federation honoured Mr Issah with the National Progress and Human Capital Catalyst Award, citing his work in infrastructure development, education and youth empowerment. He had also been recognised as Northern Regional MP of the Year 2025.

Mr Issah, who was elected on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 general elections, is serving on Parliament’s Finance and Trade, Industry and Tourism committees.

With education, healthcare, artisan support, sports, roads and water projects running concurrently, the Sagnarigu MP’s first years in Parliament are increasingly being defined by a constituency development agenda that combines physical infrastructure with direct interventions in human capital and livelihoods.
