The Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has launched a scathing attack on the Electoral Commission of Ghana, labeling a recent press conference by its chair, Jean Mensah, as “useless”.
The Electoral Commission’s latest move follows a press conference held earlier today, Thursday, where EC Chairperson Jean Mensa tackled concerns surrounding the declaration of parliamentary results in nine constituencies.
Jean Mensa, revealed that some parliamentary results were declared without the necessary documentation from all polling stations.
Ms Mensa also alleged that some electoral officers were intimidated or coerced into announcing results prematurely.
Again, she deemed the declaration of results in Okaikwei Central and Ablekuma North, which favored NDC candidates, as illegal.
Dr. Omane Boamah in a Facebook post alleged that Jane Mensah has been instructed by the ruling NPP to dilute the NDC’s potential two-thirds majority.
“She has obviously been instructed by NPP to dilute the 2/3 majority of NDC. But she will fail!”
He warned that such attempts would be met with fierce resistance, stating, “She must not tempt us beyond our endurance! We mean business!”
The NDC has demanded an emergency IPAC meeting to address these concerns, but Dr. Boamah claims that Jane Mensah is avoiding this meeting to evade critical questions.
He said “Instead of agreeing with our demand for an emergency IPAC meeting, she has decided to hide to avoid critical questions being asked at the IPAC meeting”.
He urged supporters to remain vigilant, using the hashtag #EAGLEEYES to emphasize the need for close monitoring of the Electoral Commission and the outgoing NPP administration.
Dr. Omane Boamah has been at the forefront of the NDC’s election efforts, previously highlighting the importance of election security and the need for professionalism in handling election-related matters.
