The Member of Parliament for Nandom, Richard Kuuire, has responded to a Global InfoAnalytics poll that gave him a net approval rating of -22 per cent.
In a statement dated October 14, 2026, Mr Kuuire said he had accepted the assessment in good faith and would use the findings to reflect on his performance, identify areas for improvement and take steps to change the narrative in future assessments.
“I have accepted it in good faith and will use the feedback to reflect on my performance, identify areas for improvement and take the necessary steps to change the narrative in future assessments,” he said.
His response follows a KumasiMail report published on October 12, which revealed that President John Dramani Mahama had secured a net approval rating of 65 per cent in Nandom, in sharp contrast to the MP’s negative rating in the September poll.
The survey assessed the net approval ratings of MPs and the President across 83 constituencies in Ghana’s 16 regions. Global InfoAnalytics did not provide constituency-specific explanations for the figures.
The earlier report also highlighted concerns expressed by some Nandom constituents and NDC delegates over what they described as inadequate lobbying for development projects, limited employment opportunities and poor road infrastructure.

Kuuire questions poll methodology
While acknowledging the concerns raised by the findings, Mr Kuuire said he had reservations about aspects of the assessment, particularly its methodology, respondent selection and the extent to which the views captured represented the wider constituency.
He questioned why his performance appeared to have received no positive feedback from respondents despite what he described as interventions undertaken in Nandom over the past year and nine months.
“Given the complementary nature of the responsibilities of the President and the Member of Parliament, I find this outcome difficult to reconcile with the various initiatives undertaken to support constituents and promote development in Nandom,” he said.
He added that the findings raised questions about whether the views captured adequately reflected the experiences and opinions of the wider constituency.
However, the MP stressed that his concerns about the survey would not serve as an excuse to avoid addressing the issues raised by constituents.
“Nevertheless, I do not intend to use these concerns as an excuse or allow them to distract me from my responsibility to the people. Rather, I will take the report as an opportunity to reflect, learn and improve upon my performance,” he said.
The statement did not provide independent evidence challenging the survey’s methodology or respondent selection.
Admits failure to communicate achievements
In a significant admission, Mr Kuuire acknowledged that his office had struggled to communicate its activities and achievements adequately to the people of Nandom, a shortcoming he believes may have contributed to the perception that little was being done.
“I also acknowledge that communicating our achievements to the people has been a major challenge,” he said.
“While we have undertaken several interventions and made progress in various areas, we have not communicated these efforts adequately to our constituents. This communication gap may have contributed to the perception that little is being done.”
He said his office would take deliberate steps to improve public engagement, provide regular updates on its activities and ensure constituents were better informed about work undertaken on their behalf.
The admission comes amid concerns raised in the earlier KumasiMail report by some constituents and party delegates, who questioned the MP’s visibility and ability to lobby for projects and employment opportunities.
Mr Kuuire did not directly respond to each of the specific concerns about roads and lobbying contained in the report but acknowledged that expectations among constituents remained high.
Cites GH¢900,000 in support for constituents
Defending his record since assuming office, Mr Kuuire said he had facilitated employment opportunities for some constituents, provided more than GH¢500,000 towards school fees and offered medical assistance exceeding GH¢400,000.
He also cited the provision of boreholes in some communities and support for community-initiated development projects, including school kitchens, roofing of school blocks and maintenance of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds.
According to him, projects aimed at improving living conditions had also been executed and commissioned, while he continued to discharge his parliamentary responsibilities through attendance at parliamentary sittings and committee meetings.
The figures and achievements were presented by the MP in his statement and were not independently verified for this report.
Despite these interventions, he acknowledged that significant needs remained, including financial assistance for students, support for patients struggling with medical bills and essential infrastructure for communities.

He also recognised that constituents expected their MP to participate more actively in community and social events, including funerals and other important gatherings.
Vows to meet more than half of expectations before 2028
Mr Kuuire said he remained determined to improve his performance and address more of the concerns raised by constituents before the end of his first term in 2028.
“I am therefore determined to work harder and strive to meet more than half of the expectations of the people before the end of my first term in 2028,” he said.
He added that he would continue to listen to constituents, learn from constructive criticism and pursue development initiatives in the constituency.
“As your Member of Parliament, I remain grateful for your continued support, patience and constructive feedback. I do not take the confidence you have placed in me for granted,” he said.
“Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous and better-developed Nandom,” he said.
