The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to political neutrality, stating that it does not endorse, support, or align with any political party or candidate.
In an official statement issued on January 9, the Church clarified that it welcomes all individuals, regardless of political affiliation, to worship and receive prayer but remains strictly non-partisan in its operations and public posture.
The statement follows public interpretations of a prayer offered for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong during a visit to one of the Church’s events, which some observers construed as a political endorsement.
The Church, however, dismissed that interpretation, explaining that the prayer was pastoral in nature and did not reflect an official position or political support.
“We wish to clarify that the sentiments expressed in that prayer were pastoral in nature and do not represent an official position of the Church,” the statement said.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church emphasized that it does not participate in partisan politics and urged political actors and their supporters to refrain from using its platforms, messages, or worship services for political purposes.
The Church reiterated its broader mission, describing itself as a spiritual home for all Ghanaians and a voice for peace, integrity, and national unity.
The statement was signed by the Communication Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ghana.
