Germany has signalled readiness for the full and swift resumption of work on the Eastern Corridor Road (N2), a €250 million project expected to link the Port of Tema to northern Ghana and boost trade across the country.
German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft, on February 13 toured Lot 1 of the project — the Tema–Akosombo stretch — and inspected the main camp of construction firm INZAG near Afienya.
The visit comes as Ghana pushes to accelerate economic recovery following its IMF programme and bilateral debt restructuring.
“This project stands for what German-Ghanaian partnership can achieve — world-class infrastructure, real opportunities for people, and renewed momentum for Ghana’s economic future,” Ambassador Landshöft said. “Germany and INZAG are ready for the next steps together with Ghana.”

The Eastern Corridor Road is being executed by German company INZAG and backed by Germany’s Export Credit Guarantee agency, Euler Hermes, signalling what officials describe as long-term confidence in Ghana’s economic prospects.
Once fully resumed, the project is expected to generate up to 900 on-site jobs, with construction progress potentially tripling. About one-third of the current workforce are women, serving as welders, heavy machinery operators and project leaders.
The N2 corridor is considered a critical trade artery, designed to reduce travel time between Tema and northern Ghana, improve cargo movement from the port, and stimulate economic activity along the corridor.
Officials say the road will be built to international standards and is expected to serve as a backbone for commerce and regional connectivity for decades.
