Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Emmanuel Smith, has taken Ghana’s push to revive its national airline straight to the heart of global aviation, holding high-level talks with Boeing executives in Seattle.
The meeting is part of a broader diplomatic and economic drive to tighten ties with major American industries while positioning Ghana as a rising aviation hub in West Africa.
At the center of the discussions was a clear message, which is, Ghana is serious about bringing back its national carrier—and doing it right.
“We would appreciate a partnership with Boeing in securing appropriate equipment to ensure that the rebirth of a national carrier does not elude us,” Ambassador Smith stated.
He stressed that a strong, efficient airline is critical to boosting trade, tourism, investment, and international connectivity under Ghana’s wider economic transformation agenda. Beyond connectivity, he noted, a revived national carrier would drive job creation and cement Ghana’s role as a gateway to West Africa.
Senior Manager Rachel Peterson said the company sees real opportunity in Ghana’s aviation space.
“We believe the Ghanaian aviation market has tremendous potential to serve as an engine for economic growth, and we appreciated the opportunity to share how Boeing could support the development of a national carrier. We look forward to continuing the conversations we had,” she said.
Talks between both sides went beyond aircraft acquisition, touching on technical support, aviation training, maintenance partnerships, and broader capacity-building across Ghana’s aviation ecosystem.
Ambassador Smith reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to working with global industry leaders to advance its modernization and infrastructure goals.
The Boeing engagement is part of a wider push by Ghana’s Embassy in Washington, D.C., to attract investment, forge strategic partnerships, and accelerate the country’s long-term economic transformation.
