The West African Examinations Council has relocated candidates of Ekumfi T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School to another examination centre following allegations of examination malpractice involving two teachers of the school.
In a letter dated May 17, 2026, and signed by Cape Coast Branch Controller Charles Henyo, WAEC directed the headmaster of the school to present all candidates to write their ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers at Mankessim Senior High Technical School.
According to the Council, the decision was taken after the arrest of two teachers from the school who allegedly compromised the French 1 examination paper during the ongoing WASSCE for School Candidates.
“Following the arrest of two teachers from your school who compromised the French 1 paper in the ongoing WASSCE (SC), 2026, the Council can no longer trust the integrity of your school to conduct the examination devoid of malpractice,” the letter stated.
WAEC said the relocation will serve as an interim measure while investigations and a review of the situation continue.
The Council indicated that all examination papers scheduled from May 18 to May 22, 2026, would be written at Mankessim SHS under new supervision and invigilation arrangements. However, it noted that Chemistry 3 Alternative A practical examinations would still be conducted at the school’s original premises.
The examination body further instructed the school authorities to provide transportation for examination materials and supervisors between the WAEC depot and the examination centre.
“You shall also make arrangement for the Police Escort on the rounds,” the statement added.
WAEC emphasized that compliance with the directives was crucial and noted that further instructions would be issued after a review of the situation.
