The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has annulled the results of constituency executive elections conducted in three constituencies over the weekend, citing serious breaches of party directives, election regulations and, in some cases, existing court orders.
The decision was taken by the party’s National Steering Committee at a meeting held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, following a review of the nationwide constituency executive elections.
The affected constituencies are Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa.
According to a statement issued by the party, the elections in the three constituencies were conducted “in flagrant disregard of Party directives, the Rules and Regulations governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections, and, where applicable, subsisting court orders.”
As part of the measures announced, the National Steering Committee has summoned the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to explain the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the elections in the affected constituencies.
The party also referred disputes relating to the Asante Akyem Central constituency, together with all other outstanding constituency election disputes, to the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council for advice and recommendations.
The NPP said the move was intended to ensure that all unresolved electoral matters are addressed through the party’s established internal dispute resolution mechanisms.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, the party assured members that it would continue to uphold the rule of law and enforce strict compliance with its constitution and election regulations.
“The Party wishes to assure all members that it remains firmly committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring strict compliance with its Constitution and Regulations, and preserving the integrity, credibility, and transparency of its internal democratic processes,” the statement said.
The statement was jointly signed by the Acting National Chairman, Dapquah Smith Buttey, and the General Secretary, Justin Koda Frimpong.
