The annual free eye care and breast cancer health screening exercise organised by the Office of the Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, in collaboration with the 3-M Foundation, begins on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The exercise, which seeks to improve access to essential healthcare services, will commence at the Aboabo Community Library at Aboabo Extension, serving residents within the Akotosu/Aboabo zone from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The initiative will offer free eye examinations, cataract and glaucoma screening, breast cancer screening, as well as National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card renewal and new registration services.
According to the organisers, the exercise will be extended to several communities across the Asawase Constituency, with screening teams expected to visit designated venues according to a schedule running until November 3, 2026.
The programme is being held under the theme, “Inspiring People, Touching Lives,” reflecting the organisers’ commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and improving access to screening services among residents.
The itinerary indicates that screening activities will take place at community centres, schools, mosques, churches and other designated venues across the constituency. Activities will be suspended during the weekend break on October 24 and 25.
Residents have been encouraged to check the published itinerary for the dates and venues assigned to their respective zones and to take advantage of the free services.
The organisers are also urging community members to share information about the exercise to encourage wider participation and help more people access early screening and essential healthcare services.
