Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Briggs Gemfi has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding defence partnership with France following a meeting with the French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Diarra Dimé-Labille.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Mr. Gemfi said he had the honour of receiving the ambassador at the Ministry of Defence in Accra, where the two officials held discussions centred on the enduring defence cooperation between Ghana and France.
According to the Deputy Minister, the meeting highlighted the strong bilateral ties that have characterised relations between the two countries over the years.
“Our discussions focused on the long-standing defence partnership between Ghana and France,” Mr. Gemfi wrote, adding that the ambassador’s visit underscored “the deep bonds of cooperation and mutual respect that continue to strengthen the relationship between our two countries.”
While details of the discussions were not disclosed, Ghana and France have maintained cooperation in several areas of defence, including military training, capacity building, maritime security and efforts to address regional security challenges.
The meeting is expected to further deepen collaboration between the two countries as they continue to pursue shared security interests and strengthen diplomatic relations.
