Minister in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has accused the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) of political bias, alleging that the association has failed to respond to what he described as the “intolerable abuse” of a judge by the Minority Leader in Parliament.
In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said he had “long dismissed” the GBA as an “NPP grouping,” claiming the association’s silence on the matter reinforced his belief.
“If it were not so, the intolerable abuse of this Judge by the Minority Leader would have elicited an immediate, uncompromising response,” he wrote.
The minister further alleged that the GBA had previously reacted swiftly to comments made by individuals who were not members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but had remained “loudly silent” because the individual involved in the latest controversy was allegedly an NPP-affiliated lawyer.
“They have been known to respond quickly to far less offensive commentary by non-NPP members,” he stated, adding, “Alas, one of their own, an NPP lawyer has abused a judge so they have been loudly silent.”

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu concluded his remarks by describing the situation as “insufferable duplicity.”
The Ghana Bar Association is yet to officially respond to the minister’s comments.
