The Minister for Food and Agriculture, , has announced the successful passing out of 506 Feed Ghana Brigadiers who are expected to lead the implementation of the government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme across the country’s agricultural districts.
The newly trained officers, all graduates with advanced degrees in agriculture, completed a specialised training programme at the Ghana Police Training School aimed at preparing them for field deployment as District Feed Ghana Coordinators.
According to Mr Eric Opoku, the training was deliberately designed to go beyond conventional agricultural education by instilling discipline, resilience, teamwork and a strong sense of public service.
“The Feed Ghana Brigadiers, a cohort of 506 individuals with advanced degrees in agriculture, who received rigorous training at the Ghana Police Training School passed out earlier this morning,” the minister said.
He explained that the specialised programme “focused on instilling discipline, a strong sense of duty, resilience, teamwork and respect for authority,” adding that the objective was to prepare the officers for the demands of implementing agricultural interventions across the country.

“The aim was to equip these officers with the essential qualities needed for effective field service and agricultural transformation,” Mr Eric Opoku stated. “By combining their technical expertise with enhanced discipline and a mission-oriented approach, the Brigadiers are trained to become ambassadors of production, hard work and national renewal.”
The minister said the Brigadiers would serve not merely as technical officers but as frontline coordinators responsible for translating national agricultural policies into tangible results at the district level.
“Their role extends beyond mere technical support; they are expected to be proactive in driving agricultural development, ensuring accountability and contributing to visible results across all agricultural districts,” he said.
Mr Eric Opoku noted that the Feed Ghana Programme represents a major national intervention to improve food security, create employment opportunities and drive economic growth through agriculture.
“The Feed Ghana Programme represents a significant national initiative to address critical issues of food security, job creation and economic prosperity,” he said.
“The Brigadiers, as District Feed Ghana Coordinators, will serve as the vital link between national agricultural policies and their implementation at the district level.”
He said the officers would coordinate activities, mobilise key stakeholders, monitor progress and ensure transparency and integrity in the execution of the programme.

“Their hands-on approach, involving direct engagement with farmers and communities, is intended to bring improved farming practices, boost production and help solve practical challenges on the ground,” the minister said.
According to Mr Eric Opoku, the initiative is also expected to reduce Ghana’s dependence on food imports, strengthen agribusiness and support the country’s drive towards agricultural self-sufficiency.
He expressed confidence that the deployment of the Brigadiers would significantly improve the effectiveness of government interventions in the agricultural sector.
“By bringing discipline, coordination and accountability to agricultural initiatives, they will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of farming practices,” he said.
Mr Eric Opoku added that increased domestic food production and reduced post-harvest losses would strengthen national food security while creating more opportunities for young people through agribusiness.
“Furthermore, the programme’s focus on agribusiness development and job creation, particularly for the youth, will stimulate economic growth and national prosperity,” he stated.
He added that the nationwide deployment of the officers would ensure that every district benefits from the government’s agricultural transformation agenda.
“The strategic deployment of these officers across districts ensures that the benefits of agricultural transformation are widespread, supporting the government’s vision under the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda,” Mr Eric Opoku said.
