The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ashanti Region, is set to commence its preventive maintenance exercise this Sunday, June 15, 2025, as part of a broader initiative to enhance power supply reliability and minimize unexpected outages.
The maintenance, which will be carried out in phases, targets key substations and distribution networks to optimize efficiency and prevent faults before they occur. ECG assures customers that while the exercise will involve temporary power interruptions, it is a necessary step toward long-term stability.
”This preventive maintenance is a proactive measure to ensure a stronger, more resilient power network for our customers,” said *Collins Manu, Head of Public Relations, Ashanti Sub-Transmission*. “We understand the concerns about temporary disruptions, but this effort will significantly reduce unexpected outages and improve service reliability for homes, businesses, and industries.”
The first phase of the maintenance will focus on *Kaase Main D Substation*, a critical hub supplying power to industrial customers within the Kaase enclave. ECG initially scheduled the exercise for June 12 but rescheduled it to June 15 to ensure minimal disruption to industrial operations. The decision was made in consultation with stakeholders, recognizing that most industries in the enclave do not operate on Sundays.
”We carefully structured the schedule to reduce the impact on businesses,” Manu explained. “By shifting the maintenance to Sunday, we ensure that industrial customers in Kaase experience minimal downtime, allowing them to maintain productivity without interruptions.”
ECG remains committed to keeping customers informed throughout the process. Real-time updates will be available via ECG’s *website, social media platforms, and customer service lines* (ie, 0302611611). Customers, especially businesses and industries, are encouraged to plan accordingly and reach out for any necessary support.
Once completed, the maintenance will lead to *greater service reliability, fewer faults, and quicker restoration times*, reinforcing ECG’s commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
”This initiative is more than just maintenance—it’s an investment in a future-ready power network that supports economic growth and community development,” Manu concluded. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and collaboration as we work toward a more stable electricity supply.”
ECG urges all customers to stay engaged, plan ahead, and leverage official channels for updates as the maintenance progresses.
