The Ministry of the Interior has suspended the Private Security Organisation (PSO) operating licence of Kantanka Security Services Limited with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued to all media houses, the decision follows reports of alleged use of unprescribed uniforms, as well as the possession and use of firearms and ammunition by personnel of the company while providing private security services on Sunday, 21st June 2026, at Kwabenya in Accra.
Preliminary investigations by the Ministry indicated possible violations of the Police Service (Private Security Organisations) Regulations, 1992 (L.I. 1571), which govern the operations of private security companies in Ghana.
The Ministry stated that the alleged use of unauthorized uniforms and the possession and use of firearms by private security personnel constitute serious breaches with significant implications for public safety and national security.
As part of the directive, Kantanka Security Services Limited has been ordered to cease all operations immediately, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations into the matter.
The Ministry has also advised all institutions and individuals to refrain from engaging the services of the company until further notice.
Additionally, the company has been instructed to fully cooperate with the Ghana Police Service and provide all necessary information to facilitate a thorough investigation.
The Ministry assured the public that the suspension is a precautionary administrative measure aimed at safeguarding public safety while investigations continue, with appropriate action to be taken upon completion of the process in accordance with law.
