The re-elected Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Rahaman, popularly known as Chairman White, has set his sights on winning at least three parliamentary seats for the party in the region in the 2028 general elections, with a broader target of securing five.
His declaration comes as the NPP begins efforts to rebuild its political fortunes in the region following its humiliating performance in the 2024 elections, when the party lost its only two parliamentary seats in the region to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Chairman White made the commitment at his residence after retaining his position in the NPP Upper West Regional executive elections held over the weekend.
He polled 173 votes to defeat his challenger, Kantong Alaska, who obtained 86 votes.
Chairman White said his immediate priority would be to unite the party and work with all factions to build a formidable organisation capable of mounting a serious challenge in 2028.
He described the election as a family affair and maintained that the outcome should not leave winners and losers within the party.
“There is no winner or loser in this exercise. The party won at the end of the elections,” he said.
He pledged to bring all members on board, including those who supported his opponent, arguing that unity would be critical to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
The chairman also cautioned party functionaries and supporters against inflammatory statements and conduct that could deepen divisions within the NPP.
He urged members, particularly his supporters, to be mindful of their utterances and put the collective interest of the party ahead of individual differences.
Chairman White will work with a new crop of regional executives elected alongside him to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

Nana Sadat secured a decisive victory in the Communications race, polling 185 votes against Ali Bukari’s 74.
Alhaji Muniru won the Nasara Organiser position with 179 votes, defeating Alhaji Jalilu, who polled 80.
Yussif Alhassan was elected Assistant Secretary after obtaining 200 votes against Suleman Benin’s 59.
The Youth Organiser contest was won by Dodoo Sadat, who polled 158 votes. Insah Kelle Haki obtained 71 votes, Suleman Yahaya 17, while Amidu Ridwan polled 13.
Hamid Saana emerged Regional Organiser with 138 votes. Mustapha Goveir polled 75, Adama Amadu 22, and Issahaku Sulemana 23.
Alhassan Suleman won the Treasurer position with 160 votes against James Saatiri’s 99, while Dr. Tanko Daniel Dauda secured the Secretary position with 186 votes. Dr. Agape Dangmah polled 64 and SK Dawud nine.
Majeed Liman won the First Vice Chairman position convincingly with 198 votes against Ali Karim Kamara’s 35.
The Second Vice Chairman position went to Philip Braimah, who polled 166 votes against Wontina Bamutu’s 91.
For Women’s Organiser, Minata Moomen secured 139 votes to defeat Nancy Dery, who polled 116.
With the new regional executive team now in place, Chairman White faces the task of translating his call for unity into a cohesive campaign structure capable of reversing the NPP’s fortunes in the region.
While he has set a minimum target of three parliamentary seats, his ambition to secure five would require the party to make significant electoral gains across the Upper West Region in 2028.
