The Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, National Security and the Ghana Immigration Service, has arrested 141 suspected members of organised cybercrime networks in a coordinated early-morning operation in Accra.
The intelligence-led operation, carried out in the communities of Tabora and Lashibi, targeted individuals allegedly involved in cyber-enabled financial crimes, including Mobile Money (MoMo) fraud and Business Email Compromise (BEC) scams.

According to a statement issued by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, 100 suspects were arrested in Tabora, while 41 others were apprehended in Lashibi.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are Nigerian nationals.

Security agencies also recovered 38 laptops and 150 mobile phones, believed to have been used in perpetrating the alleged cybercrimes. In addition, a Ghanaian landlord who reportedly accommodated about 100 of the suspects in his residence was arrested for allegedly facilitating the criminal activities.
The suspects are alleged to have been involved in a range of cybercrime activities, including MoMo fraud, romance scams, sextortion, wire fraud and Business Email Compromise schemes.
The Minister noted that forensic analysis of the seized electronic devices is currently underway, adding that individuals found culpable will be processed and prosecuted in accordance with Ghanaian law.
He further urged the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious digital activities, stressing the importance of collective effort in the fight against cybercrime.
“Ghana remains welcoming to friends and neighbours engaged in legitimate enterprise. However, those who seek to commit cybercrime will be found, arrested and dealt with decisively under our laws,” the statement said.
The operation forms part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and protect citizens from digital financial crimes.
