Ghana’s Interior Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has held talks with Turkey’s Interior Minister, Mustafa Çiftçi, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in security and emergency response.
Mohammed Muntaka said the meeting took place in Ankara during a working visit to the Republic of Turkey, where discussions focused on strengthening ties between the two countries.
According to the minister, the talks covered collaboration in emergency response systems, security coordination and migration management.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in disaster management, the fight against organised crime, terrorism and drug trafficking, as well as measures to address irregular migration.
Alhaji Muntaka said the visit forms part of efforts to enhance Ghana’s partnerships in tackling transnational security threats and improving institutional capacity.
He was accompanied by the Controller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu; the Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), COP Gabriel Prince Waabu; and officials from the Ministry of the Interior and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
No formal agreements were announced, but officials described the engagement as a step towards closer collaboration between Accra and Ankara on shared security challenges.
