The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has launched the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), a new digital platform designed to transform fire safety compliance in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch, the minister described fire safety as a national necessity that underpins the protection of lives and property, as well as investor confidence in the country.
He said the introduction of AFCAS marks a significant shift from manual and fragmented processes to a standardized, technology-driven compliance regime.

According to him, the system will enable the Ghana National Fire Service to improve engagement with the public, streamline inspections, reduce turnaround times and enhance service delivery across homes, businesses and public institutions.
“AFCAS represents a bold transition in how we manage fire safety compliance in Ghana,” the minister stated, adding that the initiative aligns with government policy to leverage technology to improve the ease of doing business and safeguard investments.
He commended the leadership and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service for their vision and commitment in bringing the initiative to fruition.
He also urged property owners, regulatory bodies and the general public to fully embrace and support the implementation of the system, stressing that fire safety is a shared responsibility.
The Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, said AFCAS would significantly enhance the operations of the Fire Service, improve revenue generation and strengthen interaction with clients.
She noted that prior to the introduction of the digital platform, fire safety compliance processes were handled manually, a system that presented several challenges. She expressed optimism that the benefits of AFCAS would be far-reaching and transformative for the Service and its stakeholders.

The Automated Fire Safety Compliance System is expected to play a key role in modernizing fire safety regulation and ensuring greater efficiency, transparency and accountability in the sector.
