The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed constituency executive elections in 27 constituencies following disputes and last-minute operational challenges, even as the party announced that elections had been successfully completed in 245 constituencies nationwide.
According to a statement issued by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, elections in 23 constituencies were put on hold because of various disputes that arose during the exercise.
The party also said four constituencies—Ningo Prampram, Atwima Mponua, Obuasi West and Trobu—could not conduct their elections due to last-minute challenges.
Despite the setbacks, the NPP said the exercise had been successfully and peacefully conducted in 245 out of 276 constituencies, representing an 88.7 percent completion rate.
The statement added that the National Steering Committee will review election activities in Afigya Sekyere East, Adansi Asokwa, Bantama and Asante Akyem Central before determining the next course of action.
The party indicated that its National Secretariat remains committed to addressing all unresolved issues to ensure the completion of the constituency executive elections.
Mr. Frimpong also commended party members for their role in ensuring the largely peaceful conduct of the elections.
He thanked “all Patriots for their commitment, discipline, and support,” saying their cooperation contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the exercise across most constituencies.
