The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially declared a nationwide strike set to commence on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
This decision follows ongoing frustrations regarding the delay in finalizing a new salary structure for civil service and local government staff, initially expected by October 31, 2024.
In a statement referencing their earlier communication dated October 22, CLOGSAG expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in negotiations with the Fair Wages and Salary Commission (FWSC), particularly criticizing its Chief Executive, Benjamin Authur, for acting in bad faith. As a result, CLOGSAG has resolved to disengage from any dealings with him.
“Henceforth, CLOGSAG has decided to have nothing to do with the Chief Executive of Fair Wages and Salary Commission Mr. Benjamin Authur, since he has acted in bad faith all this while”, he statement noted.
The association in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo emphasized that the prolonged delays in establishing a satisfactory salary structure and improved working conditions have left them no choice but to instruct their members to refrain from work starting November 7.
“CLOGSAG ha no other option than to ask our members to stay at home from Thursday, 7th November, 2024”
Members are urged to comply with this directive as they seek resolution to their grievances.
