The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued a strong rebuttal to allegations of drug trafficking involving two flights that landed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The allegations , made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, suggested that these flights were carrying illegal substances.
However, GACL has categorically denied these assertions, citing the results of thorough investigations conducted by relevant authorities.
GACL outlined the roles of various state agencies involved in aircraft operations at KIA.
It clarified that landing permits for all incoming aircraft are issued by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and National Security, not GACL.
Additionally, security inspections of the aircraft were conducted by Aviation Security and National Security personnel, while ground handling services were provided by Swissport.
GACL also dismissed suggestions of any involvement by its Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare in this matter.
“The managing director,Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare does not know or has not spoken to Rev. Ntim Fordjour”.
GACL stated that it will not hesitate to seek legal redress against any media house, individual, or entity for any intentional or mischievous publication regarding Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s false allegations and related matters that seek to bring the image of the company, its Managing Director, or the government into disrepute concerning the two aircraft.
