The Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Alexander Twum Barimah Esq, has issued a stern warning to Reverend Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, over public allegations regarding cocaine trafficking.
Twum Barimah emphasized that media disclosures could compromise ongoing investigations and warned that continued unfounded claims could lead to arrest.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews monitored by Kumaimail.com on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Twum Barimah warned that if the MP continues to make what he described as unfounded claims, he could face arrest.
Twum Barimah categorically dismissed Rev Fordjour’s claims about a suspicious flight, revealing that NACOC had already conducted a comprehensive search of the aircraft in question a week before the allegations surfaced.
“We had prior intelligence, and a week before Reverend Fordjour made his claims, we had already searched the Antonov flight. We found nothing,” Twum Barimah clarified, emphasizing that Rev Fordjour’s assertions were baseless.
He added “His claims are unfounded, and as a member of the committee that oversees NACOC, he should have come to us directly with any concerns instead of going to the media.”
The Deputy Director stressed that NACOC operates under the President’s directives and handles investigations discreetly to avoid tipping off suspects.
“We are handling the investigations as directed by the President. If Rev Fordjour has legitimate information, he should present it to the appropriate security agencies, not the media. By doing so, he is only giving suspects a chance to flee”.
Again, the Deputy Director responded to Rev Fordjour’s allegations regarding a cocaine bust valued at $350 million in March, which the MP claimed involved an NDC parliamentary candidate.
“How did he get that the $150m part of the cocaine is for an NDC candidate because the thing was arrested in bulk
“You see he will leave us with no option than to arrest him because this kind of things that he is saying I don’t get it. All NDC parliamentary candidates have names who is that candidate, where is he, which constituency did he or she contest? Why can’t you tell us this”, he quizzes.
