The Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John, has called for lasting peace and dialogue to resolve the longstanding chieftaincy dispute in Bimbilla.
During a visit to the town as part of his thank you and familiarization tour on Wednesday, the minister, a native of Bimbilla, emphasized the need for unity and cooperation to foster development in the area.
“Peace is a necessary condition for development. Without unity, our dreams for a prosperous Bimbilla will remain unrealized. I urge all stakeholders to prioritise dialogue and seek amicable solutions to our differences,” he stated.
The Minister’s visit was part of his regional tour to express appreciation to traditional leaders for their support and guidance before and after the general elections.
Earlier, he paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abukari II, to reaffirm the government’s commitment to fostering peace and development in the Northern Region.
The chiefs of Bimbilla welcomed the Minister and assured him of their willingness to work towards a resolution of the chieftaincy dispute.
The Minister’s appeal for peace, combined with the readiness of the chiefs and local authorities to engage in dialogue, presents a hopeful step towards ending the prolonged chieftaincy dispute in Bimbilla.
The Northern Regional Minister was accompanied by members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Acting Chief Director of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Sumaila Ewuntomah Abudu.
