The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will hold its National Delegates Conference on Saturday, September 19, 2026, during which delegates will elect new national officers in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The decision was taken by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and subsequently approved by the National Council at separate meetings held on June 25, 2026, according to a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
The conference, to be held under Article 10(1) of the NPP Constitution, will also consider other matters relating to the governance and administration of the party.
As part of preparations for the conference, the General Secretary has invited members and stakeholders to submit proposals for amendments to the party’s constitution, acting under Article 19(2) of the constitution.
The statement said all proposed amendments should be submitted either to the Office of the General Secretary at the party’s national headquarters in Accra or electronically via the designated email address.
The deadline for the submission of amendment proposals has been set for Friday, July 17, 2026.
The NPP encouraged members and stakeholders to actively participate in the constitutional review process by submitting proposals aimed at strengthening the party’s structures, enhancing its internal democratic processes and promoting effective governance.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to constitutionalism, internal democracy and the rule of law as it prepares for the National Delegates Conference.
The statement was signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong and dated July 8, 2026.
