The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana Digital Centres (GDC) to train 2,000 young Ghanaians in Microsoft-accredited digital skills as part of efforts to improve youth employability and prepare them for opportunities in the digital economy.
The agreement, signed by YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale and Ghana Digital Centres CEO Dzifa Gunu, will provide training in Graphic Design, Web Design and Data Analytics.
Under the initiative, participants will earn globally recognised Microsoft certifications, while 600 outstanding trainees will be selected for paid internship placements to gain practical industry experience.
The programme forms part of a wider continental digital skills initiative under which Ghana secured 2,000 of the 3,000 available training slots through the efforts of the Youth Employment Agency.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Basintale said the partnership reflects the Agency’s commitment to equipping young Ghanaians with future-ready digital competencies that will enhance their competitiveness in the job market and create pathways to sustainable employment.
He noted that strengthening digital skills among the youth remains a key priority for the Agency as Ghana continues to embrace technology-driven economic growth.
Mr. Gunu, who signed on behalf of Ghana Digital Centres, said the collaboration underscores the institutions’ shared commitment to empowering young people through quality digital skills training and industry-relevant certification.
The initiative is expected to expand access to high-demand digital skills while helping bridge the gap between training and employment for young people across the country.
