Comments by American internet personality IShowSpeed about the taste of jollof rice served by Pizza Man Chicken Man have sparked conversations online, prompting a response from the company’s leadership during the commissioning of its new branch at Emena near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with GHOne TV Ashanti Regional Correspondent Isaac Justice Bediako, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Sika Food and Beverages Ghana Limited, Christian Boakye Yiadom, described the reaction to the comment as a normal part of customer feedback.
According to Mr. Yiadom, discussions surrounding the issue go beyond the price or taste of the meal and touch on national pride, particularly because jollof rice is a cherished dish in Ghana.
“As a Ghanaian, I would have reacted the same way other Ghanaians reacted,” he said. “But taste is personal and each person has their preference.”
He explained that choosing one food option over another does not necessarily mean the other product is inferior, stressing that feedback—positive or negative—helps the company improve its services.
“Each of us has been faced with a situation where we have to choose between two good products. Selecting one does not make the other bad,” he noted, adding that some customer experiences may also influence such opinions.
Mr. Yiadom maintained that feedback from customers remains an important catalyst for growth and improvement for the brand.
“I want to assure every client out there that Pizza Man Chicken Man is still serving the best jollof rice in the country, and we remain committed to improving and serving our customers better,” he said.
The remarks were made during the commissioning of a new Pizza Man Chicken Man branch at Emena near KNUST, a move the company says forms part of its expansion strategy for 2026.
Mr. Yiadom explained that the new outlet is among several planned openings aimed at strengthening the company’s presence across the country.
“Pizza Man is known for growth. The opening of the Emena branch is just a part of the bigger plan that we have for the year 2026,” he said. “There are a couple of stores that will be added this year as well.”
However, he indicated that the expansion would be carried out at a measured pace to ensure quality and consistency across all branches.
The company also recently introduced a new pizza product called Meatzza, which Mr. Yiadom said has received strong patronage from customers.
According to him, the response during a recent three-day promotional campaign was overwhelming, with demand rising to the point where the company had to suspend some orders.
He added that the choice of Emena as the location for the new branch was strategic, as it allows the company to better serve students and residents around KNUST.
The CEO further noted that the company has systems in place to support students through special offers, including the use of the Crispy App, which allows customers to accumulate reward points for future purchases.
Mr. Yiadom assured customers that while more branches will be opened across the country, the company’s focus will remain on responsible expansion that guarantees high standards in food quality and service delivery.
