The Government of Ghana, through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has commenced the disbursement of grants to beneficiaries under the 2025 cohort of the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship, job creation, and business development.
The programme, designed to equip young Ghanaians with entrepreneurial skills and resources, has so far trained and mentored 10,887 beneficiaries nationwide.
Participants underwent a five-week intensive training programme followed by six months of structured mentorship to strengthen their business ideas and operational capacity.
According to NEIP, the transition from training to funding involved a rigorous and transparent selection process to identify viable businesses for financial support.
A Grant Management Committee was established to oversee the process and ensure fairness, accountability, and merit-based selection.
The committee comprises representatives from academia, government institutions, financial agencies, development partners, and the private sector, providing broad-based oversight of the selection process.
After completing training, beneficiaries submitted detailed business plans outlining their proposed ventures and innovations.
These applications were subjected to an initial one-week screening process, where they were assessed based on scalability, job creation potential, sustainability, and feasibility.
Shortlisted applicants proceeded to a nationwide pitching exercise, where they presented their business ideas before the committee for further evaluation and validation.
The process culminated in comprehensive assessment reports that informed final selections.
Following the exercise, 3,212 successful beneficiaries across all regions of the country have been selected to receive grant support.
The commencement of disbursement marks a key milestone in the implementation of the Adwumawura Programme, which seeks to reduce youth unemployment and promote inclusive economic growth through entrepreneurship.
NEIP has also assured continued support for beneficiaries through post-disbursement monitoring and business advisory services to ensure the sustainability and growth of funded enterprises.
Meanwhile, young entrepreneurs who were not selected in the 2025 cohort have been encouraged to prepare for the next phase, with NEIP indicating that the application portal for the 2026 cohort will be opened soon.
