The fire incident occurred at the company’s premises when flames reportedly engulfed the lower section of the pharmaceutical facility, sending thick smoke into the atmosphere and causing panic among workers and residents in the area.
According to fire officials, personnel from the KNUST Fire Station responded swiftly to a distress call received at about 7:59 p.m. Their coordinated firefighting efforts prevented the blaze from spreading to the upper floors of the building and nearby structures.
Speaking to the media after the operation, Station Officer I, Ohene Gyambibi, commended the professionalism and rapid intervention of the firefighters, noting that the timely response prevented what could have developed into a catastrophic industrial fire.
He disclosed that although portions of the factory and some production materials were destroyed, the main structure of the facility was successfully salvaged with no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
Fire investigators have since begun preliminary investigations to determine the exact cause of the outbreak.
Station Officer Gyambibi also urged developers, industrial operators and property owners to submit building plans to the Ghana National Fire Service for technical assessment and fire safety recommendations before construction begins.
According to him, compliance with fire safety regulations and proper emergency access planning are essential in reducing fire risks and improving emergency response operations.
An eyewitness at the scene said smoke was first detected from the lower section of the building before the flames intensified and spread through parts of the facility, prompting emergency calls to the fire service.
The situation has since been brought under control as authorities continue to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire.
