Eight people lost their lives on Tuesday afternoon following a tragic three-vehicle collision at New Ayaase in the Adansi-Fomena District of the Ashanti Region.
The accident involved a Sprinter minibus, a long-distance passenger bus, and a Toyota Corolla.

According to eyewitness accounts and local authorities, the Sprinter, en route from Kumasi to Fosu, attempted to overtake the Toyota Corolla dangerously, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming bus traveling from Kumasi.
The force of the impact was devastating. The Sprinter reportedly split into two upon collision, with one half somersaulting off the road.

Six passengers died instantly at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, bringing the death toll to eight.
EIB news Ashanti regional correspondent Isaac Justice Bediako, Assembly Member for the Fomena East Electoral Area, Isaac Adjei described the crash as one of the worst the community has witnessed.

He reiterated calls for urgent safety interventions, including the construction of speed ramps, to help mitigate reckless driving in the area.
“We’ve been calling for speed ramps for some time now. This tragic accident should serve as a wake-up call to authorities to act before more lives are lost,” he said.
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, transporting the injured to nearby health facilities.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident has sparked renewed concern over road safety and driver discipline along the busy Kumasi-Fosu highway.
