Majority Leader of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, says Ghana is actively contributing to global discussions on peace, governance and development at the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union currently underway in Turkey.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the Bawku Central Member of Parliament described his participation in the international gathering as an honour, noting that the assembly brings together parliamentarians from across the world to deliberate on pressing global issues and strengthen parliamentary diplomacy.
The four-day programme, which began on April 15, is being held under the theme, “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations.” It is expected to conclude on April 19.
Mr. Ayariga said his engagement in plenary sessions, committee meetings and bilateral discussions has focused on key areas such as democratic governance, peacebuilding, economic development and climate change.
He emphasized the critical role parliaments play in addressing global challenges and shaping resilient societies.
According to him, Ghana’s participation is helping to amplify the country’s voice on the international stage while fostering partnerships and insights that can support national development efforts.
He added that lessons from the assembly, as well as shared values and best parliamentary practices, would contribute to strengthening Ghana’s democratic processes.
Mr. Ayariga reaffirmed his commitment to translating the experiences and outcomes of the assembly into tangible progress for the Ghanaian people.
