The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has held talks with the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Cong Song, aimed at deepening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in security and economic development.
The meeting, which took place in Accra, underscored the long-standing relationship between Ghana and China, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening diplomatic and strategic partnerships.

During the engagement, Ambassador Cong Song highlighted the critical role of the Ministry of the Interior in maintaining peace, stability, and public order in Ghana. He expressed the Chinese government’s readiness to expand diplomatic engagement and economic collaboration with Ghana.
On law enforcement and regulatory compliance, the Ambassador stressed the need for Chinese nationals residing in Ghana to respect and adhere strictly to the country’s laws. He also reiterated China’s support for Ghana’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining, noting that responsible and lawful business practices are essential for sustainable development.

For his part, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak welcomed the Ambassador and commended the strong cooperation between the Ministry, the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese community in Ghana.
He emphasised the need to deepen collaboration in areas such as capacity building, technology transfer, intelligence sharing, and skills development to enhance the effectiveness of Ghana’s security services.

The Interior Minister further assured the Ambassador of the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Chinese authorities to address shared security and development challenges.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by both countries to consolidate relations and promote mutual interests in governance, security, and economic growth.
