The leadership of the Central Regional Patriotic Movement of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has petitioned the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to remove former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, from the party over what it describes as sustained public attacks and comments that undermine the party’s image.
In a petition submitted to the NEC on June 19, 2026, the group called for the immediate removal of Mr. Agyapong without a hearing, alleging that his public statements from 2023 to date have damaged the party’s reputation and electoral prospects.
The petitioners accused the former NPP flagbearer aspirant of engaging in a pattern of public criticism against the party, including comments concerning government projects, the party’s 2024 election defeat, and the treatment of grassroots supporters.
They cited Mr. Agyapong’s comments on the Afari Military Hospital project, alleging that he accused the NPP administration of failing to complete the facility and made claims about contracts and government projects. The petitioners described the remarks as damaging to the party’s reputation.
The group also referenced comments made by Mr. Agyapong following the NPP’s defeat in the December 7, 2024 general elections, as well as his criticisms of the party leadership over alleged neglect of grassroots supporters.
The petition further highlighted recent remarks attributed to Mr. Agyapong, including statements suggesting he would “spill the beans” if provoked, which the petitioners argued were threats capable of affecting party unity.
According to the petition, Mr. Agyapong’s comments about individuals within the party structure and public disagreements with some party figures also demonstrate behaviour inconsistent with party discipline.
The group is asking the NEC to issue a public statement confirming his removal and to caution other members against making public statements they believe could harm the party’s reputation.
The petition was signed by representatives of the Central Regional Patriotic Movement, including Issah Ahmed Benjiman Tetteh, listed as National President, and other officials of the group.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong has not yet responded publicly to the petition and the allegations contained in it.
